We are dedicated to nurturing the community’s potential through safety, medical and wellness training. Our aim is to build a resilient community that is empowered, informed, and engaged. Why? Because it’s how we do our part to enhance your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual lives. These opportunities are offered to community members and organisations, parents, religious leaders, administrators, caretakers, students, community security officers, and educators.

CSO Basics Course

Join the incredible CSO family and get equipped with high level training to become a volunteer protector who stands shifts outside shuls and events.

Commitment:
13 weeks, 1 session per week.

Outcome:
Become a volunteer protector who stands shift.

Cost:
Free

Body & Mind Course

A free course to empower you with self-defence skills, basic CPR training, and general crime and safety awareness around hijackings, muggings, and other dangerous situations.

Commitment:
8 weeks, 1 session per week.

Outcome:
Confidence, empowerment and connection.

Cost:
Voluntary R180 donation.

Shul Community Team

Give back to your shul and actively elevate your community’s safety via the SCT Programme, which covers security awareness, operational theory and practice.

Commitment:
3 weeks, 1 session per week.

Outcome:
Become a part of your shul safety team.

Cost:
Free

Parent Community Team

Keep your children safe by volunteering on your school’s security team. The PCT Programme covers security awareness, practice and operational theory.

Commitment:
3 weeks, 1 session per week.

Become a part of your schools’ safety team.

Cost:

Control Room Course

Theoretical and practical training will qualify you to volunteer in the CSO 24/7 Control Room on Shabbat, Chaggim, and during community events.

Commitment:
8 weeks, 1 session per week.

Join the CSO volunteer Control Room team.

Cost:
Free

Teen Control Room Course

Grade 10+ students can qualify to volunteer in the 24/7 Control Room with controllers. It’s an opportunity to give back, develop critical thinking skills, and learn to stay calm under pressure.

Commitment:
1 session, 6 hours.

Outcome:
Join the CSO volunteer Control  Room team.

CPR Family
& Friends

Community members over the age of 15 can be equipped with adult, child and infant CPR and choking training, and learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator.

Commitment:
1 session, 2-3 hours.

Outcome:
Resuscitation Council of SA Certificate. Earn 1000 Discovery Vitality points.

Cost:
R180

Childminder CPR & First Aid Course

A must-do course that empowers your childminder with CPR, choking and the first aid skills needed to handle an incident or emergency involving babies and children.

Commitment:
1 session, 3 hours.

Outcome:
Resuscitation Council of SA Certificate.

Cost:

AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers

For healthcare professionals and personnel who require CPR and basic cardiovascular life support skills, in a variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings.

Commitment:
1 session, 5 hours.

Outcome:
American Heart Association Accredited 2 Year Certification. Earn CPD points: 10 clinical points and 1 ethical point

Cost:
R900

CSO Medical Bursary.

We offer bursaries for students wishing to become full-time paramedics and then join the CSO team on completion of their studies. Eligible courses include the Diploma in Emergency Medical Care (ECT) or the Bachelor of Emergency Medical Care (ECP). For more info, contact bursaries@csocape.org.za.
